What We Do
Mission 139 is the non-profit division of TBHE founded on Psalms 139:14
We believe that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made, deserving of dignity, opportunity, and tailored support to achieve their fullest potential. Guided by this truth, we strive to empower students with high needs and their families, celebrating their uniqueness and fostering a brighter future for all. We stand firm in our commitment to uplift and empower students with neurodiverse needs, like, ASD, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and other classifications. Our mission is to ensure that no child is left behind because of their unique needs. Through scholarships, financial assistance, and advocacy services, we strive to create equal opportunities for every child to access quality education and personalized support, paving the way for a brighter future.
Educational Advocacy - The Vision
An educational advocate is a professional dedicated to helping students and their families navigate the complexities of the education system. Advocacy ensures that every student, particularly those with unique needs or learning differences, has access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
How Mission 139 Can Help:
-
Understanding Educational Rights: We help families understand their rights under laws like the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and state-specific regulations.
-
IEP and 504 Plan Support: We guide families through the process of developing, reviewing, or revising Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans to ensure they are tailored to meet the student’s specific needs.
-
Collaboration with Schools: We act as a bridge between families and schools, facilitating productive communication to address challenges and find solutions.
-
Navigating Evaluations and Services: We assist in requesting and interpreting evaluations, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations, therapies, or interventions.
-
Empowering Families: We provide families with the knowledge and tools to effectively advocate for their children long-term.
